Paris Saint-Germain prepares new stadium ahead of AS Monaco clash
Paris Saint-Germain are set to play their first match of the season at the Parc des Princes, hosting AS Monaco on Friday, September 4, in the third round of Ligue 1.
According to Le Parisien, the pitch at the Parc des Princes has been completely replaced after the previous grass suffered significant damage due to heatwaves that hit Paris during the summer, along with a fungal infection that deteriorated its condition and made it unfit to host matches.
The new pitch has arrived at the Parc des Princes as the club imported it to ensure the stadium is ready on time. Other reports indicate that Hewitt Sportsturf was responsible for supplying, transporting, and installing the grass.
The poor condition of the pitch had led to the relocation of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes in the first round to Roazhon Park, before the club confirmed that the clash with AS Monaco would be their first home match of the season.
