Olmo: I don't understand Atlético's stance on Alvarez, and Barcelona have a strong team

Dani Olmo, the midfielder for FC Barcelona, has discussed the stalled transfer of the Argentine Julián Alvarez to the Catalan team, confirming that he does not understand Atlético's stance against negotiations. He also emphasized FC Barcelona's ability to compete in the new season.

Dani Olmo, 28, was honoured in his hometown of Terrassa following his World Cup triumph with Spain. During the event, he spoke about several issues related to FC Barcelona.

Dani Olmo commented on Julián Alvarez and Atlético's situation, stating, "I don't understand that. In the end, we all have our dreams, I think Julián was clear about this aspect too. He fought for his dreams, but in the end, there are other external situations that one cannot control, and this was one of them, and there is no need to even mention it."

He added: "But life goes on, this does not stop us, personally a very good year awaits us for sure, with great competition, because other clubs have also strengthened their squads well, but I believe we have a team capable of competing."

A player from FC Barcelona spoke about the team's objectives for the new season, stating: "There are new goals, continuing to win and defending our league, cup, and super titles, and aiming for the UEFA Champions League, because we have a team capable of that."

Dani Olmo commented on the lack of a tribute for FC Barcelona players who won the World Cup at Spotify Camp Nou, following the club's decision to cancel the event after the violent arrest of a supporter.

He said: "In the end, the club decided that the time was not right for the tribute. As players, we respect that in the end. We know that the club values us 100% for the World Cup we achieved, and the club saw that the circumstances were not ideal after everything that happened. In the end, the decision is respectable, and there is no problem."

Regarding the competition with Real Madrid, Olmo explained: "It has always been like this, Real Madrid have strengthened their squad very well, with great players, and so have we. In the end, both teams' goal is to win everything. We will fight for our objectives, as we always have."

He concluded his statements by saying: "We have experienced two years of great success at the domestic level, and now we want to achieve success at the European level as well. This is our goal; the hardest part is not always achieving success, but maintaining it and repeating it, and that will be our aim."
