Gabriel Jesus has become the surprising signing for FC Barcelona in attack during the final stage of the summer transfer market for 2026, after his name had not been mentioned among the candidates to join the team in recent months.

The former Arsenal forward arrived in the Catalan capital last Monday, with high hopes of regaining his best form, especially as FC Barcelona could provide the right environment for him to achieve that at the age of twenty-nine.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", Gabriel Jesus has impressive numbers in his career, notably ranking fifth among Brazilian players for most goals scored in UEFA Champions League history, having netted 26 goals in 54 matches, averaging 0.48 goals per game, which is almost a goal every two matches.

Gabriel Jesus is tied with his compatriot Rodrygo in this ranking, while Neymar leads with 43 goals, followed by Vinícius with 34 goals, Kaká with 30 goals, and Rivaldo with 27 goals.

Among active Brazilian players, Gabriel Jesus currently ranks third in the UEFA Champions League top scorers list, behind only Neymar and Vinícius.

In his career with European clubs, Gabriel Jesus has scored 126 goals and made 67 assists in 358 matches for Manchester City and Arsenal since 2017, averaging 0.54 direct goal contributions per match.

The Brazilian forward has an impressive record in the Premier League, ranking second among Brazilians for most goals scored in the competition's history with 79 goals, behind Roberto Firmino, who has directly contributed to 82 goals.

Gabriel Jesus has won the Premier League four times with Manchester City and once with Arsenal, making him the second most decorated Brazilian in the competition's history, behind his compatriot Ederson, who has claimed the title six times with Manchester City.

Gabriel Jesus has not participated with Brazil since the end of 2023, but he remains the fourth most impactful active player for the national team in 2026, having scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 64 matches, averaging 0.50 direct contributions to goals per match.
