Report: Barcelona transfer window sees huge spending and sales boost club's finances

FC Barcelona has recorded significant activity during the summer transfer market for the 2026/2027 season, with their investment in new signings reaching €174 million, against revenues of €104 million from player departures and rights linked to previous deals.

Barcelona's sporting management executed 24 operations during the transfer market, which included sales and new signings, as well as amounts received by the club from rights related to previous transfers, in addition to a loan deal described as semi-paid.

Barcelona's net spending during the transfer window reached €70 million as the club aims to strengthen its squad for the 2026/2027 season, bringing the total investments to €174 million, the highest during Joan Laporta's presidency.

Hans Flick and Deco have agreed to sign eight players during the transfer window, led by Rodri, along with Gordon, Adeyemi, Hamza, Bessou, and Gabriel Jesus. Meanwhile, Dominik Livakovic has arrived to strengthen the goalkeeping position, and João Cancelo has joined on a free transfer.

Gordon was the highest-cost transfer, with Barcelona paying €70 million to sign him from Newcastle, plus an additional €10 million in variables. Rodri followed, with his transfer from Manchester City valued at €60 million, alongside €16.5 million in incentives.

As for Adyemi, Barcelona cost €22 million, plus €7 million linked to objectives, while the transfer fee for Gabriel Jesus was €10 million, Bessio €8.5 million, Hamza €1.5 million, and the club paid €2 million to sign Livakovic, with the possibility of adding €2 million as variables.

In contrast, Barcelona generated revenues of €104 million from 16 player departures, whether from team members, loaned players, or through rights retained by the club in previous deals. This figure could rise to €108 million if the club receives €4 million from Venezia for Toni Fernández, according to the terms stipulated in the agreement.

Ferran Torres' move to Paris Saint-Germain was the most lucrative transfer, with Barcelona receiving €48.5 million. Meanwhile, Tommy Marqués' transfer to Sporting Braga for €11 million was one of the biggest surprises in the market.

Barcelona received €11 million from AS Monaco after activating the purchase clause for Ansu Fati, while Héctor Fort moved to Real Sociedad for €8.5 million, Jofre Torrents to Ajax for €6 million, and Iñaki Peña to Panathinaikos for €3 million.

The revenues also included the transfer of Dani Rodríguez to GNK Dinamo Zagreb and Andrés Cuenca to Como, totaling €1.3 million, alongside approximately €4.2 million received by FC Barcelona from rights linked to percentages of previous sales.

The rights included €2.03 million from Nico González's transfer to Newcastle, €1.35 million from Marc Cucurella's deal to Real Madrid, €425,000 from Marc Guijo's transfer to Leipzig, and €400,000 from Sergi Altimira's move to Sporting Lisbon.

In the final hours of the transfer window, Barcelona confirmed the departures of Toni Fernández to Venezia for €2.2 million and Gil Fernández to Real Mallorca. Additionally, defender Álvaro Cortés moved to Royal Antwerp for €3.5 million.

In contrast, Barcelona has not generated any revenue from Marc Casadó's loan move to Deportivo La Coruña, while Baldé remained with the team, concluding the club's transfer window with a net spend of €70 million between signings and revenues, after one of the most active transfer periods during Joan Laporta's tenure.
