Raúl Asencio convicted of driving under the influence

Spanish defender Raúl Asencio is facing a new legal issue after being convicted of a traffic safety offense for driving his car under the influence of alcohol, in an incident dating back to August last year in the south of Gran Canaria.

The player was stopped during a routine check on August 16 while driving a Porsche in a summer recreational area south of the island, before a breathalyser test revealed he was significantly over the legal limit.

According to the digital newspaper «Atlántico Hoy», a Real Madrid defender underwent a swift trial at the San Bartolomé de Tirajana court, which issued a ruling fining him €14,400, along with suspending his driving license for eight months.

The legal troubles do not stop with this case, as Asencio is simultaneously appearing before the courts in another more complex file, alongside three former players from the Real Madrid system: Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García, all of whom previously played for the reserve team.
