Official: Manchester City announces signing of Enzo Fernández

Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Argentine Enzo Fernández from Chelsea on a five-year deal, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2031.

Manchester City have stated on their official website that Fernández, 25, has extensive experience at the highest level, having won four major titles with Defensa y Justicia and River Plate, before winning the Primeira Liga with Benfica, then the UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.

Enzo Fernández said in statements to the club's website: "I couldn't be happier to be here, and I am ready to take on the challenge of helping City continue to win titles; this is a club built for success."

He added: "I want to learn from my new teammates and become a better player. I take pride in continuing to develop my level, and anyone who has worked with me knows how hard I train every day and how much I give in matches. I give everything I have, and I can promise Manchester City that this will continue now that I have joined."

Enzo Fernández has won the FIFA Club World Cup 2022 and the Copa América 2024 with Argentina. He also participated in the World Cup final this summer against Spain and currently has 49 international matches under his belt, during which he has scored 8 goals.

According to several media reports, the deal cost Manchester City £125 million.
