Official: Atlético announces signing of Jonathan David

Atlético have officially reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Canadian forward Jonathan David on loan for the current season, allowing him to represent the Spanish team in the 2026/2027 season.

Atlético have announced on their official website that Jonathan David was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 14, 2000, before moving at a young age to Haiti, where he lived until the age of six, and then relocating to the Canadian capital Ottawa, where he began his football career.

David's development has caught the attention of KAA Gent, where he signed in 2018. He began to showcase his attacking potential, scoring 37 goals over two seasons with the team before moving to Lille.

The Canadian forward spent five seasons with Lille, during which he played 232 matches, scored 109 goals and provided 31 assists. He also won two titles: Ligue 1 and the Trophée des Champions, before moving to Juventus in the summer of 2025.

On the international stage, David represents the Canada national team and is the all-time top scorer for the team with 42 goals, including three goals scored during the recent FIFA World Cup.

David excels as a central striker, showcasing movement and the ability to collaborate with teammates, along with flexibility in the attacking line.
