Everton close to signing Maitland-Niles

Everton are close to finalising a deal for Englishman Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a player from Olympique Lyon, on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Everton have been looking for a new right-back since the start of the summer, especially after the departure of their captain Séamus Coleman from the team at the end of last season, after 17 years spent with the club.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is 29 years old and has extensive experience in the Premier League through his time at Arsenal. He also possesses the ability to play in multiple positions, most notably as a right-back and in midfield.

According to the latest updates, Everton and Olympique Lyon have reached a preliminary agreement worth around €5 million (£4.2 million), with the player heading to England to complete medical tests before the transfer window closes.
