Mark Guiu's transfer to RB Leipzig gives FC Barcelona an extra €425,000

Spanish forward Marc Guéhi, aged 20, has become a new player for RB Leipzig after the German club paid Chelsea €17 million to sign him.

The deal will provide FC Barcelona with an additional return for the years of development of Joao in the youth categories of the Catalan club.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reports that FIFA's solidarity mechanism stipulates that 5% of the transfer value is distributed to clubs that contributed to the player's development between the ages of 12 and 23.

The solidarity fund percentage due for each season between the ages of 12 and 15 is 5%, while it increases to 10% for each season from ages 16 to 23.

Jojo played with FC Barcelona from the age of seven until he turned 18, which is why the Catalan club is entitled to receive payments for the last seven seasons that the player spent at La Masia.

By accounting for the transfer fee of €17 million for Joao to RB Leipzig, FC Barcelona will receive an additional €425,000 from the deal. This amount will be added to other revenues FC Barcelona has earned from the training rights of their former players during the current summer transfer window.

This summer saw Nico González move to Newcastle, Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, and Sergi Altimira to Sporting Lisbon, deals that brought FC Barcelona €3.42 million in training rights.

FC Barcelona has already received €6 million from the transfer of Marc Guiu to Chelsea in the summer of 2024, bringing the total amount that FC Barcelona will receive from the transfer of Marc Guiu to €6.42 million.
