Newcastle announce signing of Matías Fernández-Pardo
Newcastle have officially signed Belgian forward Matías Fernández-Pardo from Lille in a deal that has not been disclosed, securing him on a long-term contract.
Fernández-Bardo is 21 years old and will wear the number 20 shirt with Newcastle, becoming the eighth player to join the first team during the current summer transfer window. The player showed impressive performances with Lille last season, contributing to the team's qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Fernández-Pardo said after his transfer: "I am very happy and proud to be at a great club like Newcastle. I spoke with the coach and he showed me how much he wanted me to join, so the transfer made perfect sense for my career and I didn't hesitate."
Matthias Jasle praised the signing, confirming that the player possesses high technical abilities, speed, and explosiveness in performance, along with the ability to score, create goals, and dribble past opponents.
Sporting director Ross Wilson described the deal as 'very important', confirming that the club has been keen on signing the player since last May.
