Wydad bids farewell to 16 players and continues rebuilding for the new season

Wydad have undergone significant changes since the end of last season, with over 16 players leaving the team as part of a comprehensive restructuring process that the club's management is continuing in preparation for the new sporting season.

The reasons for player departures varied from contract expirations to transfers to other clubs, as well as the termination of contracts for several players before their end dates. This has led to significant changes in the team's roster during the current summer transfer window.

The departure list includes players such as Nordin Amrabat, Wissam Ben Yedder, Mohamed Rayhi, Ayoub Bouchtata, Abdelali Mohammedi, Dutch player Bart Meijers, Brazilian Arthur, as well as Al-Ghafour Lamirat, Amin Abu Al-Fath, Nabil Khali, Hamza Al-Wasiti, Tanzanian Moalimou, Bolivian Moisés Paniagua, in addition to Walid Sabbar and Zahir Al-Matarji.

Zouhair Moutaraji's contract with Wydad Casablanca ended at the conclusion of last season, while the club's management decided to terminate Hamza Sakhi's contract before its expiration, making both players part of the names that have left the team during this period.

The list of departures does not seem complete yet, as Wydad's management is considering releasing player Mohamed Boucharoua, while the future of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech remains uncertain due to the ongoing dispute between him and club president Ibrahim Al-Asri.

These moves reflect a clear desire from Wydad's management to reshape the team before the start of the new season, by making extensive changes to its squad.

Wydad are entering this phase under the guidance of Portuguese coach Sérgio Preto, who is relying on a new group of players to build a team capable of competing in various competitions during the upcoming season.
