Liverpool reject Gakpo's departure to Manchester City

Liverpool have decided to keep Dutchman Cody Gakpo and will not allow his departure to Manchester City, after the club failed to find a suitable replacement for him before the transfer window closed.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have rejected an £85 million offer from Manchester City, while Gakpo has agreed to stay with the Reds and continue his journey with the team.

Romano explained: "Liverpool's management decided to reject Manchester City's offer and keep the player, given the difficulty of finding a suitable replacement in the remaining time of the transfer window."

After the Cody Gakpo deal fell through, Manchester City are currently focusing on other options to strengthen their squad, most notably Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernández, as the club continues its movements in the final hours of the transfer market.

Reports have indicated that the Dutch star has already agreed to personal terms to join Manchester City.
