Atlético secure Jonathan David deal

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Atletico Madrid and Juventus have reached a verbal agreement regarding the transfer of Canadian striker Jonathan David to the Spanish team during the current summer transfer window.

According to Romano, the deal will initially be a loan with an option to buy the player's contract permanently, while the Spanish club is working to complete the official procedures.

Romano revealed via his account on X that Atlético will cover more than 50% of the Canadian striker's salary during his loan period, as part of the agreement reached with Juventus.

David's transfer to Atlético comes as the Spanish team needs to strengthen their attacking line, especially with the uncertain futures of several of their forwards including Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth.

Jonathan David joined Juventus in the summer of 2025 but failed to deliver the expected level consistently during his first experience in Serie A, opening the door for his departure from Torino this summer.
