El Khannouss nears Stuttgart stay after Newcastle move stalls
Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss is closer to continuing his journey with VfB Stuttgart, as his chances of moving to Newcastle have diminished during the current summer transfer window.
German newspaper 'Kicker' revealed that the negotiations between Bilal El Khannouss and Newcastle did not result in an agreement, as the Moroccan midfielder was not sufficiently convinced by the English club's sporting project.
The newspaper indicated that El Khannouss, aged 22, did not mind the idea of returning to the Premier League, but he wanted to join a club that he sees as a real step forward in his career, which he did not find in the Newcastle project, according to the same source.
With negotiations stalled, the possibility of Bilal El Khannouss wearing the Newcastle shirt before the transfer window closes is extremely slim, despite the communications that took place in recent days between the English club and the Moroccan player's camp.
In contrast, current data indicates that Bilal El Khannouss is set to remain with Stuttgart, unless a strong and late offer arrives from one of the clubs interested in his services, which could reopen the discussion of his transfer before the summer transfer window closes.
Bilal El Khannouss joined Stuttgart in 2025, coming from KRC Genk, and is currently tied to the German club with a contract that runs until June 2030.
