Liverpool move to sign Pedro Neto amid Cody Gakpo exit speculation
Liverpool have begun their move to sign Portuguese winger Pedro Neto from Chelsea during the final days of the summer transfer window, as Cody Gakpo nears a departure from the team.
According to "CaughtOffside" citing "Football Transfers", Liverpool have reached out to Pedro Neto's agent to explore the possibility of the player moving to Anfield, as Manchester City are nearing a deal for Gakpo.
Liverpool are willing to approve Gakpo's departure only if they successfully sign another top-level striker alongside Bradley Barcola, with Neto among the names on the club's list of interests.
The 26-year-old Portuguese winger is willing to depart Chelsea if he receives an appropriate offer, while the London club is asking for around £100 million to agree to sell the player.
Chelsea have signed Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers for around £54 million in 2024, while Al-Hilal had previously shown interest in acquiring him, before negotiations stalled due to Chelsea's high financial demands.
Pedro Neto has scored 20 goals and provided 19 assists since joining Chelsea in 106 matches across all competitions. If Cody Gakpo moves to Manchester City, Liverpool will need to act quickly to secure the Portuguese winger before the transfer window closes.
