Benfica rescues Krouani from quick stint in Saudi Arabia

Moroccan international Sofiane Al-Khrouni has left Al-Qadsiah after a short stint, heading to SL Benfica, who have shown interest in the left-back for some time.

The Croatian player has joined Al-Qadsiah this summer on a free transfer from Utrecht, which also includes the Dutch player Tijjani Reijnders. However, he has not found real opportunities to participate due to restrictions on the number of foreign players in the Saudi Pro League.

The Croatian player arrived in Lisbon on Sunday evening to undergo medical examinations and complete his transfer to SL Benfica. Upon his arrival, he said: "I am very happy to be here, Benfica is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, so I didn't need much time to make the decision."

He stated: "I want to win a trophy and have a good season with SL Benfica."

Despite his contract with Al-Qadsiah running until the summer of 2029, Portuguese media reported that SL Benfica secured a purchase option worth €10 million as part of the agreement.
