Roma Set to Announce Palerdi Deal

AS Roma is preparing to officially announce the signing of Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi from Olympique Marseille.

Palerdi arrived in the Italian capital yesterday, preparing to complete the transfer process to "the Giallorossi" on loan, with a purchase option that could become mandatory upon meeting specific conditions, according to Italian reports.

The transfer aims to bolster the backline of coach Gian Piero Gasperini's team, as the agreement between Roma and Marseille is now complete, with only the official announcement pending.

Leonardo Balerdi began his career at Boca Juniors' academy, rising to the first team in 2018 and quickly catching attention with his abilities as a center-back. In January 2019, he moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany, but did not receive many opportunities with the first team, before transferring to Olympique Marseille on loan in the summer of 2020.

After a successful season, Marseille activated the purchase option and permanently signed him in July 2021, making him a key figure in the team's defense, where he has played nearly 200 matches across all competitions.

On the international stage, Palermo has worn the Argentina national team jersey since 2019, and he has made 11 appearances.
