Raphinha Transforms Barcelona's Attack

Raphinha has changed the way Barcelona attacks after coach Hans Flick relied on him as a central striker, in the absence of a natural forward, making the Brazilian one of the team's standout offensive players at the start of the season.

According to "Mundo Deportivo," Flick hinted before the clash against Athletic Bilbao at the importance of Raphinha's role, noting his ability to participate in build-up play and initiate high pressing, which was evident during the match where the player scored the opening goal.

Raphinha continues to play as a central striker after scoring three goals in the first two rounds of La Liga, amid Barcelona's difficulties in signing a new forward before the transfer window closes.

Hansi Flick has previously experimented with several players in this position, including Gordon, Firmin, Dani Olmo, and Hamza Abdel Karim, along with other options like Adeyemi and Lamine Yamal.

Relying on Raphinha in the striker position has changed the way Barcelona builds its attacks, as the player participated in 28 build-up plays during the match while playing as a forward, compared to an average of 18 for Robert Lewandowski last season. He also makes 22 quick sprints per game, compared to Lewandowski's 13.

The Spanish newspaper reported that Barcelona, despite not having a true striker at the moment, continues to create a significant number of chances, with expected goals of 4.38 against Elche and 4.23 against Athletic Bilbao, making Raphinha the main forward for Barcelona at this time.
