Welbeck: Scoring on Debut is Special, Not Surprising

Danny Welbeck, Chelsea's forward, appeared in press statements following the victory over Luton Town in the second round of the EFL Cup, leading his team to the third round.

Danny Welbeck spoke to Sky Sports, saying: "It's clear that scoring on my debut is very special, so I'm really happy about that, but the most important thing is qualifying for the next round. It's not always easy to face a team that relies on defensive organization and trying to break through it, and I got to the ball from a cross and I'm happy to have scored the first goal."

Speaking about his new experience with Chelsea, he added: "I feel very good. Clearly, playing for a club of this size is a great honor, and when an opportunity like this comes, it's very hard to refuse. I am very happy to be here and excited about the upcoming project, and I will give my all in training, then do my best on match days as well."

He stated: "My readiness to participate has been very good over the last few seasons, and I hope it continues for a long time."

Discussing the role he can play in Chelsea's dressing room, Welbeck joked: "Age! I raise the average age of the team a bit. But I have the experience of playing matches, being in good dressing rooms and tough ones, and I know what it takes to achieve something special. I can help the group and push them in the right direction."

The English forward spoke about coach Xabi Alonso's message to the team, saying: "We need to take things step by step. We have a lot of quality in the dressing room, and we've added an element of experience. We want to help the young players, and we have a fantastic group with many talented players, and we can achieve something special this season if we manage to reach our goals."

He concluded about facing his former team Brighton in the Premier League next week: "I am very excited, and it will be great to see some familiar faces as well. I had a wonderful time at Brighton and I have no bad words towards them, they helped me a lot, so I am looking forward to the match. I have played against many of my former teams during my career, so it won't be strange for me."
