Jorge Marin Surprises Alvarez: You Can Leave, But Not to Barcelona

Miguel Angel Gil Marin, the CEO of Atletico Madrid, has opened the door for the Argentine Julian Alvarez to leave the team, but he emphasized that a transfer to Barcelona is impossible.

Gil Marin stated in an interview with Movistar: "My dream is for Julian to stay with Atletico if he wants to," emphasizing that the club still wishes to keep the Argentine forward as part of its sporting project.

He added: "If he finds that continuing in Madrid and Atletico is not possible for him, we will look for a replacement, but that will never be Barcelona."

Gil Marin's comments come after Atletico Madrid's board confirmed, unanimously, their refusal to enter into any negotiations with Barcelona regarding the transfer of Alvarez, a stance the club described as final and non-negotiable.

Meanwhile, Jil Marin expressed his concern about the player's mental state, stating that Alvarez "is not well and very upset," pointing out that there are people who have contributed to misleading and confusing him about his future.

Barcelona remains the preferred destination for Alvarez, but Atletico's firm position makes a move to the Catalan club nearly impossible. Meanwhile, Arsenal has emerged as a potential alternative, with recent reports suggesting that the player and his family are already considering the option of moving to England, alongside the possibility of staying in Madrid and trying to regain the trust of Atletico fans.

Atletico's position is now clear: keeping Julian Alvarez is the preferred option, and if he decides to leave, the club will look for another solution. However, Barcelona is completely out of the picture.
