Turkish Press Criticizes Lyon Fans' Reaction to Guendouzi Provocations

The Turkish press has launched a scathing attack on Olympique Lyon fans after the incidents that occurred during the team's match against Fenerbahçe in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifying round, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the Turkish side, securing their progression to the group stage.

Turkish media spotlighted the clashes that followed the match, along with Lyon fans' reaction to Matteo Guendouzi, who provoked the crowd during the encounter. The newspaper "Fanatik" described the incident as a "shameful attack," while "Hürriyet" reported on an "attempted assault" on the player.

Reports indicate that some fans attempted to invade the pitch after Fenerbahçe scored their second goal, prompting security forces to intervene and prevent them. The intensity of the events was such that the Turkish state broadcaster TRT was unable to set up its usual studio inside the stadium.

Meanwhile, the Turkish press celebrated Fenerbahçe's qualification for the Champions League for the first time in 18 years, praising the team's performance against Lyon and considering the victory at the 'Groupama' Stadium a significant achievement.
