Barcelona Continues to Profit from Former Players' Transfers

Barcelona continues to benefit financially from the transfers of its former players, as Nico Gonzalez has become a new signing for Newcastle after moving from Manchester City in a deal worth €58 million, according to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

The source explained that FIFA's solidarity program grants clubs that contributed to player development a percentage of their transfer fees. Specifically, 5% of the transfer value is distributed to clubs that participated in the player's training between the ages of 12 and 23.

Nico joined Barcelona's academy in 2013 at the age of 11, and remained with the club until the summer of 2022, when he moved to Valencia on loan, before departing permanently to Porto the following year.

Based on Nico's development period at Barcelona, the Catalan club will receive an additional €2.03 million from his transfer to Newcastle, having already earned €21.8 million from his previous transfers, including €8.5 million from his move to Porto, along with 20% of the profits from his resale to Manchester City.

Barcelona's additional revenues are not limited to the transfer of Nico Gonzalez, as the club will also receive €1.35 million from Marc Cucurella's transfer to Real Madrid, along with €400,000 from Sergi Altimira's move from Real Betis to Sporting Lisbon.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Barcelona is expecting to secure around €4 million this summer from the transfers of its former players, specifically €3.78 million, with the possibility of additional revenues from new deals.
