Cucurella: We can achieve great things if we keep this up, playing alongside Mbappé is a privilege

Real Madrid star Marc Cucurella appeared in a press statement following the 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the postponed match from the first round of La Liga, held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Cucurella stated, "The match was good, very good. It wasn't an easy game; I think Real Sociedad is a great team. In the first half, I believe we played well, but it's true that we conceded a goal on one of their counter-attacks, and we had to try to come back again. However, I think the team showed strong character, and the second half was excellent. We worked as one big team, and in the end, when everyone gives their all and puts in 100% effort, we have a lot of quality, and we managed to achieve the win, which is what we wanted."

He added about his first appearance at the Bernabéu: "It was wonderful, I think you can't ask for more than that. Playing for a few minutes at the Bernabéu in front of our fans, and on top of that achieving our first win at home, I am very happy, and we need to keep working this way and continue on this path. In the end, the most important thing is always the three points, and I believe we proved today that we have a great team, and if we continue like this, we will achieve great things."

Reflecting on his honor as world champion and the applause from the fans, he said: "It was a truly wonderful moment, I was more nervous than I am during the match, to be honest! But it was an incredibly exciting experience. In the end, presenting the trophy, which took us a lot of effort, and which I believe was a historic achievement for Spain, in front of our fans and with all the love they showered me with, along with the support of my teammates... I think it was a very beautiful moment that I will always remember."

Speaking about playing alongside Mbappé: "It’s a great privilege, in the end, everything becomes easier with him. With minimal effort, he can score, and he doesn’t need much to create a dangerous opportunity. I believe he brings a lot to the team and is a very important player. His enthusiasm and focus give us an extra boost. We hope he continues like this, and that this hat-trick isn’t his last this season. I’m very happy for him and for the team’s victory."

He concluded about his first period at the club: "I am very happy, I think you can't ask for more than that. Step by step, we are getting used to our new city and our new club, and we are getting to know everyone working here at Real Madrid. The season is long, and I am pleased with the start we have made. On Sunday, we have another match, and we will try to achieve our third consecutive win to continue this positive streak."
