Historic Journey of Sabah Coach: From 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' to the Champions League

Azerbaijan's Sabah and their Lithuanian coach Valdas Dambrauskas have written one of the most unusual and inspiring stories in football, as the team successfully qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

But Dambrauskas' journey to the top began in a completely unexpected way. In 2000, the Lithuanian coach participated in the local version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and succeeded in winning a cash prize, which he later used to attend coaching courses in England, marking the true start of his journey into the world of coaching.

In 2007, Dambrauskas got his first chance as a coach when he took charge of Kingsbury London Tigers, who were then competing in the ninth tier of English football. He managed to lead the team to achieve the best results in its history before continuing his coaching career with several clubs, mostly in Northern and Eastern Europe.

After years of hard work and experimentation, Dambrauskas has reached one of the biggest moments of his career, leading Sabah to the Champions League for the first time, giving the Azerbaijani team a historic opportunity to face the elite of European clubs in the group stage.
