Hossam Abdel-Meguid: No Plans to Return to Egyptian League Soon

Hossam Abdel-Majid, the player recently transferred to Bulgarian side Ludogorets, confirmed that his move to the European club is not a "stepping stone" and that his ambition is to continue his professional career in Europe.

Hossam Abdel-Majid stated in an interview with Al-Nahar Channel: "Moving to the Bulgarian league, Kubri? I have been hearing this talk since the news of my professionalism in Bulgaria circulated, but thank God, I never thought about such a thing."

He added: "My ambition for the past three or four seasons has been focused on turning professional, and when that happened, I held on to it. Those close to me can confirm that, but the fans are excused for their concerns, as they are not used to seeing a homegrown player go professional and not return quickly."

He continued: "Certainly, Mustafa Mohamed has gone professional, and thank God he is playing for a big club in Europe and is moving to another big one as well, but in general, the fans are not used to this continuous series."

He added: "Therefore, they can be excused for their lack of complete confidence in my ability to go to a big club and shine there, which opens the doors for other young players in the team to pursue careers in Europe."

Following Zamalek's draw against Al Ittihad in the opening round of the new season, he stated: "The players' situation is difficult and they are not to be envied. They started their preparation late, and during this period, fans should excuse the players as they did not have an early preparation phase like other teams."

He added: "Even I didn't start the preparation period early because I joined the team late, but the system here is completely different; a player cannot participate immediately or play a full 45 minutes, but they gradually participate for 10 or 20 minutes."
