Italian Football Federation Withdraws Support for Infantino

The Italian Football Federation has officially withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino's candidacy for a new term as president of FIFA during the elections scheduled for March 2027, in a decision that represents another blow to the FIFA president ahead of the elections.

The Italian Football Federation has stated that its decision was made to clearly and transparently express its position, in full agreement with UEFA and its president Aleksander Čeferin, particularly regarding the recent initiatives proposed by Infantino concerning football governance and the development of international competitions.

Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Italian Football Federation, stated: "We will continue to work alongside UEFA and other European federations to promote a vision of football based on merit, solidarity, sustainability, and fan centrality."

Malagò added that the Italian Federation believes in a model based on dialogue, listening, and shared responsibility, considering that this approach has contributed to the growth and development of football while maintaining its core principles.
