New Rules Prevent Liverpool vs Real Madrid Clash at Anfield

Liverpool has announced that they will not be able to host Real Madrid at their home ground during the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, due to competition rules that prevent the same matchup from taking place at the same venue for three consecutive seasons at this stage.

Liverpool hosted Real Madrid at their home ground in the past two seasons, meaning the English side will not be able to welcome the Spanish giants at home for the third consecutive season.

According to the new competition rules, Real Madrid can host Liverpool at their Santiago Bernabéu stadium this season, as the rule of playing at home for three consecutive seasons does not apply.

Thus, if Real Madrid and Liverpool face each other during the group stage of the Champions League, the match will take place at Real Madrid's stadium, while Liverpool will not be able to host the royal club at Anfield.
