Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livaković, currently with Fenerbahçe, arrived in Barcelona yesterday, Tuesday, and underwent a medical examination this morning, Wednesday, in a new step towards officially completing his transfer to the Catalan club.

According to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Livakovic, aged 31, underwent medical examinations at a Barcelona hospital, in preparation for signing his contract with the club, after the deal's procedures were expedited in recent days.

The agreement between Barcelona and Fenerbahce stipulates the transfer of the goalkeeper for a fixed fee of two million euros, along with an additional two million euros in variables, with Livakovic set to sign a contract for four seasons, lasting until 2030.

The Croatian goalkeeper's role at Barcelona this season remains undecided, as the club initially planned to loan him to Dinamo Zagreb this season, with the intention of bringing him back next season after Wojciech Szczęsny's contract expires.

On the other hand, the option of him staying with Barcelona this season as a backup to Juan Garcia remains open, which Livakovic confirmed upon his arrival in Barcelona, saying: "I am very happy to be here, will I stay here this season? We will see."

The status of Financial Fair Play and the remaining space in Barcelona's squad will dictate the future of Livakovic. If there is enough room in the salary cap, he will remain with the team. However, if not, the club will seek a loan for him, with a potential move to Dinamo Zagreb, before returning to Barcelona in the summer of 2027 to serve as the second-choice goalkeeper.
