Brighton Signs Algerian Player Jwan Hjam Until 2031

Brighton & Hove Albion has officially announced today, Tuesday, the signing of Algerian full-back Juan Hegem from Swiss club Young Boys, with a contract that runs until June 2031, pending the completion of necessary regulatory procedures.

Hajjam is 23 years old and has solidified his position as a key player for Young Boys, having played 98 matches with the team in domestic competitions and the Europa League.

Brighton's sporting director, Mike Kaf, stated: "We believe Juan will be a great addition to the group and will strengthen our already strong defensive options. He is a modern left-back with speed, the ability to contribute offensively, and technical skills, which fit well with our style of play."

Jwan Hjam began his professional career with Paris FC in 2020, before transferring to Nantes in 2023, where he made his debut in Ligue 1. He then joined Young Boys in 2024, quickly becoming an integral part of the team and participating in both domestic and European competitions.

On the international stage, Hagham previously represented France at the U17 and U19 levels before opting to represent Algeria in 2023. He has so far played 21 international matches with the 'Desert Warriors'.

Hajjam represented the Algerian national team in the 2026 World Cup, featuring in the group stage matches against Jordan and Austria, and also participated in the Round of 32 clash against Switzerland.

With his move to Brighton, Jwan Hegam is set to experience his first taste of the Premier League, following a career that began in France and continued in the Swiss league with Young Boys.
