Islam Issa reveals details of his injury with Egypt ahead of the World Cup

Islam Issa, the star of Ceramica Cleopatra and the Egyptian national team, revealed the details of his ACL injury sustained with the Pharaohs during the friendly against Spain before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

Aissa stated in remarks on ON Sport channel: "I felt worried the moment I got injured against Spain with the Egypt national team, and the scans confirmed I have a cruciate ligament injury."

He added: "Hossam Hassan told me that, God willing, it won't be a cruciate ligament tear, but what made me feel concerned is that the injury was in the knee."

He added: "I was crying heavily because I felt that my dream was over. I was waiting for the chance to participate in the World Cup, but thank God for everything."

Islam Issa touched on the discussions regarding Al Ahly and Zamalek's attempts to sign him in previous periods.

The Ceramica Cleopatra player stated: "I received an offer from Al Ahly when I was playing for Al Masry, and I don't know the reasons why the deal didn't go through. Zamalek approached me several times, but the negotiations were never formal."

He continued: "I don't have a preferred choice between Al Ahly and Zamalek. What matters most to me is playing and participating (I can't go somewhere just to play for a few minutes), in addition to the club's atmosphere and whether it is stable or not. All of this is important to me."
