Morocco Kicks Off AFCON Qualifiers Against Gabon and Lesotho

The Confederation of African Football has revealed the schedule for Morocco's first two matches in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The "Atlas Lions" will kick off their campaign against Gabon, before heading to South Africa to face Lesotho.

The Moroccan national team will play their first match in the qualifiers on September 25, 2026, when they host Gabon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

CAF has assigned South African referee Abongile Tom to officiate Morocco's opening match in the continental qualifiers.

Just four days later, the Atlas Lions will be set for the second round, as they visit Lesotho on September 29, 2026, in a match to be held at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

The two matches hold special significance for the Moroccan national team, marking the first official appearance of the 'Atlas Lions' following their participation in the World Cup. The journey begins against Gabon in Rabat, followed by a challenging away match against Lesotho.
