Enrique Sends Strong Message After Dembele Substitution: No Player Has Past Credits

Luis Enrique, Paris Saint-Germain's coach, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's 2-2 draw against Rennes, emphasizing that the team made mistakes in handling offensive transitions. However, he praised the substitutes who contributed to the comeback.

After the match, Enrique stated that Rennes was extremely dangerous in counter-attacks, explaining: "Today things were more complicated than usual. In the first half, there were situations we did not control. Rennes executed counter-attacks at a very high level and managed to score two goals with great precision."

The Spanish coach added: "We tried to change some things, and I am particularly happy with the five players who came on during the match. They all did a very good job."

Discussing the dangers posed by Rennes in transitions, Enrique explained that it’s not just about his team's mistakes, but also about the quality and speed of Rennes' players, stating: "Counter-attacks are not the only issue; there is also the quality and speed of Rennes' attacking players. They caused a lot of danger and it was difficult to control them."

In a strong message following Ousmane Dembélé's substitution at halftime for Ferran Torres, who scored both goals, Enrique stressed that he does not grant any player privileges based on past achievements, stating: "This is football. Paris Saint-Germain is starting a new season and has not won anything yet, nothing. If there is a player who thinks we have already achieved something, they will win nothing at the end of the season."

He added: "For me, the most important thing is that there are no favors or previous credits for any player. There is no credit; you have to show me every day, in every match and every training session, that you are ready. Otherwise, it’s easy for me to leave you out."

Luis Enrique has revealed his anger over certain referee decisions, stating: "I was upset, yes, because the result was catastrophic. Also because we hold meetings with referees to tell us that they will do certain things... I was angry about some situations."
