Amorim: Happy with the start, we knew the match would be tough
Roben Amorim, the head coach of Milan, expressed his happiness at securing victory in his first official match with the team, as the Rossoneri defeated Torino 2-1 in the opening round of Serie A. Alfredo Sissi and Adrien Rabiot scored Milan's goals in the 64th and 66th minutes.
Amorim said after the match: "I am very proud to be the coach of Milan. We have worked together over the past four weeks, and this start is very important for us and our fans. We wanted to play well and win, and now we must continue to work."
The coach stated about the team's style: "We want to be a different team, to control matches and have possession of the ball, but to win we must also defend well. We have players capable of scoring goals, but we cannot concede too many goals, so we need to do both things together."
The coach spoke about Alvadios Sisi, who scored his first goal in Serie A, saying: "I love him a lot, and I hope he doesn't hear this so he doesn't get arrogant! He is a player with great quality and creativity, and it is important in Italy to give young players the chance to showcase their abilities."
Regarding the participation of Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, Amorim explained: "Neither of them has had a lot of training sessions, so we need to be cautious. I knew their experience would be important in the critical moments of the match, and Rabiot came in and really helped us secure the victory."
Amorim concluded his remarks with a message to Milan fans, emphasizing that the team is still at the beginning of a new project, but he aims to build a squad capable of competing and delivering entertaining football while maintaining defensive balance.
