Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos continues to await a decision on his future, with less than two weeks remaining until the summer transfer window closes. Having left Real Madrid around a month and a half ago, he has yet to be linked with any new club.

Real Betis seems to be the most likely destination for the 30-year-old player, as he wishes to return to the club where he started his career. However, the financial situation of the Andalusian club is still delaying the completion of the deal, leaving Ceballos waiting for an official move to finalize his return to his former team after nine years.

Ceballos left Real Madrid after a conversation with Portuguese coach José Mourinho, during which he realized that the manager did not include him in his plans for the new season. The player requested to terminate his contract and obtain a free transfer, which was approved by the royal club.

Real Madrid provided all the necessary arrangements to terminate the player's contract, which was set to expire at the end of next season. Meanwhile, Ceballos waived his substantial salary, which was close to five million euros net annually, allowing him to leave the club without Real Madrid receiving any financial compensation.

As time passes, Dani Ceballos approaches the end of the summer transfer window without having participated in a full pre-season with any team, despite receiving considerable interest over the past weeks.

Reports have revealed that the player turned down an offer and interest from Ajax, as he joined LIAN Sports, managed by agent Fali Ramadani, in an effort to reassess his options in the transfer market, with Real Betis remaining his top priority.

Dani Ceballos has experienced varying levels of participation during his time at Real Madrid, having joined the club in 2017 for €16 million. However, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, impacted by limited playing minutes and frequent injuries over the past few years, alongside strained relationships with some coaches, which has also affected his opportunities with the Spanish national team.

Despite Dani Ceballos demonstrating his capabilities at times, particularly when he took on a larger role with Real Madrid in 2025 under Carlo Ancelotti, his career has remained tied to instability and indecision regarding his future.

Ceballos is now awaiting the final step from Real Betis, with other offers on the table, but the player's desire remains to return to the Andalusian club and start a new chapter in his career after many years away from the team that saw his rise.
