Malaysian Club Breaks 32-Year-Old World Record
Johor Darul Ta'zim has etched its name in the annals of global football history by breaking the record for the longest unbeaten streak in the First Division, reaching an impressive 109 consecutive matches without defeat.
Johor achieved a historic milestone after defeating Kuching City 3-0 in the opening match of the new Malaysian league season, surpassing the previous record held by Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, which maintained an unbeaten streak of 108 matches between 1989 and 1994.
Johor's historic unbeaten streak dates back to April 2021, and since then, the team has not suffered a single defeat in league competitions. They have also clinched the Malaysian league title for 12 consecutive seasons, confirming their absolute dominance in local football.
The record win came with three goals from Marcos Guilherme, Oscar Aribas, and Shahab Zahdi, allowing the team to start their new season the same way they ended the last one, having concluded the previous season with a staggering 14-1 victory.
Johor's ambition does not stop at the record; the club aims to continue its local dominance and progress further on the continental level, having transformed into one of Asia's top clubs in recent years. They now hold the longest unbeaten streak in the history of football leagues worldwide.
