Aston Villa Targets Goretzka in Surprise Move
Aston Villa's management is looking to secure a deal for German international Leon Goretzka after his exit from Bayern Munich during the current summer transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
According to the source, Aston Villa has emerged as one of the clubs surprisingly interested in signing the 31-year-old midfielder, as the English club seeks to bolster its options in the midfield.
Leon Goretzka has left Bayern Munich this summer after eight seasons with the club, during which he won the Bundesliga title seven times. He also boasts significant international experience with the German national team, having played 73 international matches.
Goretzka has an impressive record at the European level, having participated in 73 matches in the Champions League, along with 327 matches in the Bundesliga.
The report indicated that the player has become available on a free transfer following the end of his association with Bayern Munich, which could make the deal appealing for Aston Villa.
The English club had previously sought to sign Joao Palhinha, the former Bayern player, but the player has returned to work with his former coach Marco Silva and has moved to Benfica.
