Security Committee Ready to Ensure Stars League Safety
The special security committee for managing local and international sporting events announced today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, its complete readiness to secure matches of the Iraqi football league, along with the Asian matches scheduled to take place in Iraq during the new season.
The announcement comes as the league competition kicks off, at a time when clubs and the federation are striving to deliver a remarkable experience in terms of organization and security.
Colonel Anmar Amer Abbas Al-Khazraji, the head of the committee, confirmed in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that work is underway to provide the highest levels of protection for players, fans, and stadiums.
He stated: "There are significant efforts being made by his committee, in cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi Football Association, to manage and secure the Iraqi league matches, as well as to ensure the Asian matches that will take place in Iraq."
He added: "The committee is keen to ensure the success of all sporting events and to work as a united team to elevate Iraq's name high."
The committee enjoys direct support from the Ministry of Interior, which reflects positively on the readiness of the plans in place.
He emphasized: "It also takes into account and appreciates the significant and professional efforts of the Iraqi Central Football Federation."
This coordination comes as part of Iraq's efforts to host more continental and international tournaments, following the return of Iraqi stadiums to hosting official matches.
The committee chairman revealed details of the security plan focused on technical and organizational aspects.
The committee stated: "We have prepared a comprehensive security plan that relies on modern technologies and organizes the movement of fans in and out smoothly."
The plan includes, according to security sources: the installation of surveillance cameras inside and outside the stadiums, electronic checks at the gates, and designated pathways for families and media personnel. Additionally, central operations rooms will be established to monitor matches in real-time.
Al-Khazraji sent a direct message to the Iraqi sports audience, urging them to commit in order to ensure a successful season and to present a civilized image of Iraqi football.
The Iraqi sports community has been urged to collaborate closely with security teams and adhere to organizational guidelines both inside and outside stadiums. This cooperation is essential to present matches in a manner that reflects the dignity of Iraqi sports.
