Silva has taken on this role during recent friendly matches, demonstrating his capacity to contribute defensively, build play from the back, and connect with Real Madrid's forwards.

Bernardo Silva is the leading candidate to fill this role against Espanyol in Real Madrid's La Liga opener, especially since he excels in multiple positions, having also featured on the right wing and as a playmaker, unless a surprise signing occurs.
