Benfica Makes Official Bid for João Palhinha

Benfica has made an official offer to Bayern Munich for Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to A Bola newspaper today, Tuesday.

According to the report, the offer includes €15 million as a fixed value, along with €5 million in incentives and add-ons, bringing the total potential deal to €20 million.

Benfica has reached a preliminary agreement with Palhinha on personal terms, as the player is set to sign a four-year contract until 2030, with a net salary of around €3 million per year, according to information from the Portuguese newspaper.

Benfica hopes to secure the deal quickly, especially since Palhinha prefers a return to Portugal, while Bayern Munich is looking to reach a final sale agreement for the player, who is not part of coach Vincent Kompany's plans for the new season.

Bayern Munich had signed Palhinha from Fulham in the summer of 2024 for €51 million, plus an additional €5 million in add-ons. The player spent last season on loan at Tottenham before returning to the Bavarian club.

The deal still requires Bayern Munich's approval of the offer, with interest also coming from Aston Villa and Newcastle United for the 31-year-old player. Bayern's management prefers a permanent sale rather than a loan.
