Rodri Passes Medical Ahead of Barcelona Move
Spanish midfielder Rodri is close to completing his transfer to Barcelona after successfully undergoing a medical examination on Tuesday morning at the Joan Gamper Sports City, paving the way for the finalization of his move to the Catalan club.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Rodri underwent medical tests around 9 AM, leaving Barcelona's facilities after 11:30 AM to head to the hotel where he has been staying since arriving in the city.
Rodri arrived in Barcelona on Monday evening, coming from Manchester on a private jet, and was greeted by fans. He expressed his happiness at joining the team, stating that the transfer represents a dream for him.
After passing the medical examination, only the final procedures remain to complete the transfer, as Barcelona works on preparing the documents and signing Rodri to his new four-year contract, with plans to officially present him today at the Spotify Camp Nou offices.
The deal with Manchester City includes a fixed payment of €60 million, along with €11 million in variables, which could raise the total value to around €70 million. Rodri will wear the number 16 shirt at Barcelona.
Rodri is set to make his first appearance in front of Barcelona fans on Wednesday during the Joan Gamper Trophy celebration, ahead of the match against Al Ahly. However, his participation in the game is uncertain due to the limited time available for him to train with his teammates. Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo has also passed his medical examination in preparation for joining the team on a free transfer.
