Barcelona is keen on securing the signing of Argentine striker Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid during the current summer transfer window, despite the Madrid club's public refusal.

According to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona will make every effort to finalize the deal, as Alvarez has become the top choice to strengthen the striker position after the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

The player still wishes to move to Barcelona, having previously shown his desire to wear the Catalan club's jersey and fulfill his dream of playing for them.

Barcelona's interest in the Argentine forward comes despite Atletico Madrid officials, led by Enrique Cerezo and Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, insisting on his stay. Diego Simeone has excluded him from the squad for the match against Malaga on Wednesday.

Barcelona's management has set a deadline of two to three days to resolve the Alvarez situation. If no agreement is reached, the sporting management will turn to one of the alternatives in their plans, while the Argentine striker remains the club's top choice.

The picture is expected to become clearer before the end of the week, coinciding with Barcelona's start in La Liga against Elche on Sunday. The club does not wish to prolong the transfer saga, despite the transfer market remaining open until September 1.
