Atletico Madrid Promotes Arnau Ortiz to First Team

Atletico Madrid announced today, Monday, the promotion of Catalan winger Arnau Ortiz to the first team after his standout performances with Atletico Madrid B last season, along with his notable appearances during the pre-season under coach Diego Simeone.

Ortiz delivered an exceptional season with the B team in the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 23 goals and providing 6 assists in 38 matches, making him the top scorer in the Spanish third division across both groups. His contributions have been pivotal in bringing the team closer to promotion to the second division.

The left winger, who joined Atletico Madrid in September 2025 from Polish side Slask Wroclaw, had the opportunity to train with the first team during the pre-season preparations for the new season, and he made the most of it, scoring two goals and providing one assist in four friendly matches.

Ortiz scored against Getafe and Manchester United, and assisted Carlos Martin's goal during the victory over Olympique Marseille, officially securing his spot in the first team, where he will wear the number 16 shirt.
