Manchester United Targets Bayern Munich Defender
Manchester United continues its efforts to strengthen its defense in preparation for the new season, placing South Korean defender Kim Min-jae among its top targets during the summer transfer window, despite the player preferring to stay with Bayern Munich.
According to journalist İkram Konur, the English club's management is still strongly interested in signing 29-year-old Kim Min-Jae, as they aim to bolster the team's backline under coach Michael Carrick for the 2026-2027 season.
Manchester United is keeping the international Korean defender on their list of priorities, having played 36 matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist, confirming his status as one of the options that has caught the attention of the coaching staff and the club's sporting management.
However, the player's desire represents the biggest obstacle for the Red Devils, as Kim Min-jae prefers to continue his journey with Bayern Munich and not change his destination during the current transfer window.
Despite Bayern Munich's openness to discussing the departure of their defender, they demand a substantial financial compensation for letting him go, which complicates the transfer. This is particularly challenging given that the player previously had a standout experience with Napoli.
Manchester United's management is currently studying the financial aspects of the deal, before making a decision on whether to submit an official offer to Bayern Munich in an attempt to secure the services of the South Korean defender.
