Gakpo Set for Tottenham Move
Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, currently with Liverpool, is close to a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur during this summer's transfer window, as the London club has made significant progress in negotiations to secure his signature.
Journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Gakpo is just one step away from joining Tottenham, having reached an agreement on personal terms for a contract that will run until 2031.
Tottenham is currently working to reach a final agreement with Liverpool, with discussions around a deal that could be worth around £70 million. Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi has identified the player as one of his key targets to strengthen the attacking side.
However, the completion of the deal is still dependent on Liverpool's position, which does not intend to allow Gakpo to leave before signing several players in the attacking line, according to "Football Insider".
This condition represents the biggest obstacle to the player's transfer, despite significant progress in negotiations. Liverpool needs to secure attacking alternatives before agreeing to Gakpo's departure, who is capable of playing on the left flank or as a striker.
Cody Gakpo's future is now linked to Liverpool's actions in the transfer market, while Tottenham seeks to complete an agreement with the English club and finalize the deal, having already made progress on personal terms with the player.
