Konyaspor's Move for Imam Ashour Hits a Snag
Turkish club Konya Spor has announced the halt of the transfer deal for Imam Ashour, the Al Ahly player, after negotiations reached a deadlock, prompting the Turkish club to officially explore other options and alternatives.
Cengiz Yunit, the official spokesperson for Konyaspor, confirmed that no agreement has been reached with Al Ahly regarding the signing of Ashour during this summer.
Cengiz Yunit stated in remarks reported by Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak: "Yes, Imam Ashour was one of our options. We had serious negotiations, but we did not reach a point of agreement."
He added: "Yes, we did not reach an agreement on this deal, but the football management of the club, as I mentioned earlier, has other options now."
After his team's defeat against Rizespor in their opening match of the Turkish league this evening, Saturday, he stated: "Our work and efforts continue to strengthen the squad."
Cengiz Ünder concluded his statements by saying: "Inshallah, we will provide our coach with the opportunity to bring in the players he requests as soon as possible, so he can conduct the training he wants with them and play the matches as he aspires."
