Borussia Dortmund in Race for Barcelona's Hector Fort

The competition to sign Hector Fort, a player from Barcelona, continues as his future is set to be resolved during the current transfer window, having fallen out of favor with coach Hans Flick. He is seeking a new destination that offers him a greater chance of playing time.

Spanish newspaper 'Sport' has reported that Fort is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Inter Milan and Everton. However, the Italian club's interest has waned as they are close to signing Jed Spence, the Tottenham player.

The newspaper added that the list of clubs interested in Fort includes teams from Spain, England, and Italy, as well as clubs from the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund has entered the race to sign the Spanish full-back strongly, according to transfer market expert Matteo Moretto.

Fort spent last season on loan at Elche, with no clause allowing the club to retain his services. However, Barcelona's management now prefers to sell the player, while wanting to keep a percentage of his rights or any future sale.

Fort is 20 years old, with a market value estimated at €12 million according to Transfermarkt, while Barcelona raises its valuation to over €15 million and it could reach €20 million, depending on the percentage the club retains of the player's rights.

Mourito explained that Barcelona may request only €10 million if they retain 50% of Fort's rights and sell the remaining half, while communications and offers from interested clubs continue, taking advantage of the player's youth, potential, and technical development.
