Ali Mahmoud: Our Goal is to Beat Barcelona, My Idol is Aboutrika

Ali Mahmoud, a player for Al Ahly, confirmed that his team's goal is to secure victory against Barcelona in the upcoming match of the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Ali Mahmoud stated in an interview with Al Ahly's official website: "My primary position is number 8 on the right side of midfield because I am left-footed, but I also excel in the number 6 role."

He added, "But last season with ENPPI, I played most of my matches in the number 10 position due to the coach's system, which required my presence in that role. He believed I could play in that position."

The midfielder believes that playing for Al Ahly is different. "Playing at Al Ahly is different, due to the need to operate in tight spaces and focus on playing between the lines, as this is what Al Ahly faces in matches."

He expressed his personal goals and objectives with the team: "My personal goals are to join the Egypt national team, and my goals with the team are to win every tournament we participate in, and this is what the fans deserve. After what happened last season, we must achieve victory in all competitions this new season."

Regarding the team's training camp in Spain, he said, "The atmosphere is great at Al Ahly's camp. All the players are fully focused on reconciling with the fans and winning all the titles."

He also spoke about the anticipated match against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday, August 19. "Barcelona is a great team, but we are Al Ahly. Our ambition in any match we play is to win, whether it's Barcelona or any other team we face."

Ali Mahmoud confirmed that he considers former Al Ahly star Mohamed Aboutrika his role model on the pitch.
