Barcelona Faces Major Challenge After Lewandowski, Ferran, and Rashford Depart

Barcelona is facing an offensive challenge after the departure of three of its standout players from last season: Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Marcus Rashford. The trio directly contributed to 75 goals during the 2025/2026 season.

According to Spanish newspaper "Sport", Lewandowski, Ferran, and Rashford scored 54 goals and provided 21 assists for Barcelona last season, making their goals account for 72% of their total contributions, compared to 28% for assists.

Ferran Torres will become the latest departure, having enjoyed his best season with Barcelona, scoring 21 goals and providing 3 assists. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski netted 19 goals and assisted 4, while Marcus Rashford scored 14 goals and delivered 14 assists.

Barcelona has made a splash this summer by signing Gordon and Adeyemi, who are capable of playing across all three attacking positions. The duo combined for 27 goals and 10 assists last season, with Gordon netting 17 goals and providing 5 assists for Newcastle, while Adeyemi contributed 10 goals and 5 assists for Borussia Dortmund.

The Spanish newspaper suggests that the comparison between the departed players and the new signings should be approached with caution, as Barcelona has lost three players compared to just two arrivals. Furthermore, Gordon and Adeyemi will join a team with significant attacking prowess, which could help them improve their statistics at the Catalan club.

If Julian Alvarez joins, the attacking balance of Barcelona could change dramatically, as the Argentine striker scored 20 goals and provided 9 assists in 49 matches with Atletico Madrid last season. Adding Alvarez's numbers to those of Gordon and Adeyemi brings their total contributions to 66 goals, compared to the 75 contributions left by Lewandowski, Ferran, and Rashford, with only a 9 direct contributions difference.
