Nayef Aguerd's transfer to Real Sociedad has unexpectedly stalled after negotiations between the Spanish club and Olympique Marseille had reached advanced stages, according to journalist Santi Ona.

According to reports, Akkard underwent medical tests in preparation for the completion of the transfer, but the process stumbled at the last moment, despite an agreement reached between the two clubs regarding the Moroccan defender's move.

The decision to withdraw came after a conversation between Akkord and Real Sociedad coach Pellegrino Matarratzo, where things did not go as expected, leading the player to ultimately decide against completing his return to the Basque club.

Akkord was close to returning to Real Sociedad after a previous stint with the team during the 2024-2025 season, before the deal unexpectedly fell through, leaving the Spanish club to search for a new defensive option during the remainder of the transfer window.
