Barcelona Increases Bid for Rodri

Barcelona continues its efforts to finalize the signing of Spanish midfielder Rodri from Manchester City, having raised its financial offer in a new attempt to bridge the gap with the English club's demands.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona has made a new verbal offer to Manchester City amounting to €60 million, along with performance-related add-ons tied to the player's achievements.

The new offer comes after Manchester City rejected Barcelona's initial proposal, which was valued at around €45 million, plus add-ons. The English club felt that the financial compensation did not come close to the amount they are asking for to part with Rodri.

Romano pointed out that Manchester City values Rodri at around €80 million, and they currently do not seem ready to lower this amount, keeping negotiations between the two parties open.

This comes as securing Rodri's contract has become a priority for Barcelona's management during the transfer window, especially after Frenkie de Jong's injury.

Barcelona has another factor that may help them secure the deal: Rodri's desire to return to Spain, along with just one year remaining on his contract with Manchester City. This situation could push the English club to sell him rather than let him leave for free.
